PlayBall Primary Schools Outreach

PlayBall is currently providing hockey coaching to four local Primary Schools as part of the ongoing Cheetahs initiative.

The Cheetahs initiative is a new project that provides local young people with an opportunity to play sport and engage in physical activity. The project will meet these aims by running holiday sports camps, outreach programmes, inter-school competitions and coach education workshops.

A PlayBall outreach officer has been delivering introductory hockey sessions in Dundonald Primary School, Brooklands Primary School, Gilnahirk Primary School and Strathearn Preparatory School.

The project, which is part funded by Belfast City Council, is split into two five weeks blocks of coaching, with each block culminating in a hockey blitz day at the PlayBall facility. The first blitz day was held at the end of March at PlayBall and consisted of fun activities followed by non-competitive small-sided games.

PlayBall would like to thanks all participants, teachers and parents who made the day a success!
