2012 Inspire Mark awarded to Cheetahs Initiative

25 July 2011

The Cheetahs Initiative at PlayBall, Stormont has been awarded the prestigious Inspire mark by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.

The Inspire mark is the badge of the Inspire Programme - a UK-wide participation initiative which recognises innovative and exceptional non-commercial projects which are inspired by the 2012 Games.

Seb Coe, Chair of the London Organising Committee said, "The Cheetahs Initiative is encouraging young people in Belfast to fulfil their potential. I am proud that with the help of partners such as the Northern Ireland Civil Service Sports Association (NICSSA), we are delivering our vision to use the power of the Olympic Games and Parlaympic Games to boost participation in sport and physical activity."

The Cheetahs Initiative is made up of a number of Sports Camps, which are held during the school holidays, as well as a sports outreach programme, which involved a PlayBall sports coach delivering a series of sports sessions in local primary schools.
