7-a-side invitational competition

05 November 2012

FARE week

THE Irish FA Disability Department showed its support for FARE Week by hosting a 7-a-side invitational competition at the Playball facility at Stormont.

The event involved several sides from across Northern Ireland as well as special guests from the Channel Islands - Guernsey Disability FC.

The FARE Action Week unites supporters, clubs and those targeted by racism across the continent in a concerted effort to make discrimination a thing of the past. The Action Week of the Football Against Racism in Europe network aims to boost public awareness of the problems of racism and exclusion and to create a united front in dealing with this malign influence on Europe's number one sport.

The Northern Ireland Cerebral Palsy Squad won the competition after a close final with Lisburn Rovers Visual Impairment Club. Despite the weather, a great day was had by all.
